About the Finance Committee

  • The role of the Finance Committee:

    • Oversee the review of all financial policies and ensure conformance with all federal and state mandates as informed by the VSBA
    • Review and consult with staff about all financial matters for the school division to include:
    1. Formulation of the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP)
    2. Formulation of the Five-Year Forecast
    3. Review of all year-end reconciliations for all funds and year-end carryover requests
    4. Annual financial budget development
    5. Annual budget presentation to City Council
    6. City Funding Formula formulation in consultation with City Council
    7. Review of Independent Audit Reports
    • Recommend actions to the full School Board based on Committee meeting discussions
    • Other items as assigned by the School Board or the School Board Chairman
