Schools Volunteer Program
Thank you for your interest in the Manassas City Public Schools Volunteer Program. We truly appreciate your desire to give of your valuable time to the students and staff of MCPS. Each school can share the specific volunteering opportunities available within their school. As part of our continuing efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment, we have two levels for potential volunteers:
- All volunteers at this level will be under the supervision of an MCPS employee at all times. They must sign in using the Raptor System with a valid ID when they enter the school and wear the identification badge at all times. They do NOT have to fill out a volunteer application.
- All volunteers at this level may be left, at times, unsupervised with students such as chaperoning an overnight field trip. They must submit a volunteer application and complete a background check through our Human Resources Department.
- Volunteer applications are completed most efficiently in the front office at any school location. When you visit the school, please let the greeter know you are interested in completing a volunteer application and they will direct you to the appropriate person.

*ATTENTION: ALL TIER 2 VOLUNTEERS MUST REAPPLY EACH SCHOOL YEAR
The Raptor Volunteer process requires that all approved volunteers be deactivated at the end of each school year. Persons wishing to become a Tier 2 volunteer for the upcoming new school year will need to reapply. Persons approved as Tier 2 volunteers for the previous school year, must reapply but will not need a new background check (background checks are valid for three years).
