• 5th Grade Social Studies (US History I) Curriculum Framework

    This course focuses on the history of the United States from Pre-Columbian Times until 1865. Fundamental concepts are presented in civics, economics, and geography and are integrated into the context of United States history.  This course continues into grade six.  In these two years, students explore United States history in chronological sequence. They learn about change and continuity in our history, study documents and speeches that lay the foundation of American ideals and institutions, and examine the everyday life of people at different times in our history through the use of primary and secondary sources.
