Dr. Zella Jones
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am excited to bring my skills and educational leadership to Weems Elementary School to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success. My passion for education and supporting the success of all students has been shaped over the past 30 years with Pre-K - 12 experience as a special education teacher, teacher on special assignment, assistant principal and principal. I live in Manassas, VA with my husband, Theodore, and I am the proud parent of two sons, both graduates of Manassas City Public Schools.
I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Special Education from James Madison University, a Masters of Education degree from George Mason University in Special Education Technology, an Education Specialist Degree from Virginia Tech in Education Leadership and a Doctor of Education Degree from Virginia Tech in Education Leadership and Policy Studies. My dissertation topic was “A Case Study of Middle Class African American Males Taking Advanced Mathematic Classes.”
Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of high achievement established by Weems Elementary School by building strong relationships with parents, students, teachers, and community partners. I want you to be an active participant at Weems Elementary School. Consider volunteering, join the PTO, and plan to attend our school events and activities. Research on schools clearly note that parent participation in their child’s education coincides with a greater likelihood of success for their children. I extend a special, yearlong invitation to you to attend all school activities and events whenever possible. I want your support in your child’s education.
I look forward to meeting and working with you.
