Sixth grade students will take Springboard English Language Arts. With the implementation of Springboard, students will be able to use higher-order thinking skills, expand their academic vocabulary, and develop their problem-solving skills. The students will build knowledge through text-based analysis and discussion of content-rich nonfiction and informational texts and have regular practice with complex text and its academic vocabulary. Springboard provides thematic units that integrate close reading, writing, speaking, and listening, and language skills. Each unit has a strong correlation between reading and writing.
